Fans this year will have the chance to vote for the first Women’s Team of The Year XI

EA SPORTS FC™ has released the official list of nominees for the coveted Team of the Year (TOTY) award. The shortlist includes the best men’s and women’s players from across the globe, with fans able to have their say on who deserves a spot in the prestigious TOTY XI teams, introducing the women’s XI for the first time.

Fans can now choose from 61 of the best women’s players in the world, including Chelsea striker Sam Kerr, Atlético de Madrid midfielder Leicy Santos, high flying winger Trinity Rodman as well as Olympique Lyonnais’ Selma Bacha.

The men’s nominee shortlist includes a list of star studded players across football, including EA SPORTS FC 24 cover star, Erling Haaland, Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min while also featuring young stars such as Jude Bellingham, Ousmane Dembélé and Florian Wirtz.

Voting begins now, January 8 at 8am PST / 4pm GMT / 5pm CET and fans can see the full list of men’s and women’s nominees and submit their votes for the men’s TOTY XI here and women’s TOTY XI here.

The vote will close Sunday, January 14 at 11:59pm PST / 7:59am GMT (15th January) / 8:59am CET  (15th January), giving the FC community plenty of time to evaluate who they believe is worthy of making the final TOTY rosters across men’s and women’s football, which will be unveiled and available in EA SPORTS FC 24 on Friday, January 19. For EA SPORTS FC Mobile, the men’s TOTY roster will be available in-game from Thursday, January 25 (Thursday, February 1 in China, Korea, and Japan).

Continuing the long-standing partnership with Stats Perform and their Opta data, EA SPORTS FC has provided fans with Opta data to help voters build a case using detailed real-life stats and make the all-important decision on who should make their TOTY XI. Just a few examples of this include;

  • Alvaro Morata scored 16 league goals during 2023, his second-most in a calendar year while playing within the big five European leagues (20 goals in 2017).*
  • Virgil Van Dijk won 77% of his aerial duels in the Premier League in 2023 – the highest percentage of any player (min. 100 aerial duels contested).*
  • Only two players had more goals and assists combined in the WSL in 2023 than Sam Kerr (11 goals, 6 assists), with the Australian scoring or assisting every 87 minutes.*
  • Selma Bacha was directly involved in more goals than any other defender in the Division 1 Féminine in 2023 (10), with all 10 of those being assists.*

Additionally, CBS Sports’ UEFA Champions League Today studio team of Kate Abdo, Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards and guest analyst Alex Scotthosted a Kickoff Show by selecting their respective men’s TOTY XI sides with commentary from Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham and their women’s TOTY XI with support from Spanish midfielder Alexia Putellas. Abdo and Carragher went up against Richards and Scott to select their men’s TOTY XI squads, with Bellingham and Erling Haaland among the pool of players. Putellas was among the first women’s TOTY XI nominees. See the various TOTY Kickoff Shows and debates from the CBS Sports team here.
