Killashee Hotel Launches The Picnic Box Available From Easter Weekend

Following the huge response last year, Killashee Hotel in County Kildare is launching its popular Picnic Box, which will be available from Easter weekend and into the summer.

The Picnic Box joins a number of delicious take-out options for Spring including the Assiette of Miniature Desserts, the Cupcakes Box and The Afternoon Tea. Ordered 24 hours in advance, these can be enjoyed at home or outdoors in the beautiful grounds of the Killashee estate.

Killashee Hotel presents three choices of Picnic Boxes to choose from. Option A @ €40.00 per box caters for two adults and two children and includes Mini egg mayonnaise and bacon brioche bun; Roast sirloin of beef, rocket, horseradish crème fraiche, sourdough roll; Smoked salmon on house treacle brown bread, caper & onion, dill & lemon dressing; Chicken tikka wrap, baby gem lettuce, roast pepper Banana Bread with Vanilla Panna Cotta, strawberry compote for dessert and accompanied by still or sparkling mineral water. The Children’s Menu has a cheddar cheese sandwich, roast ham baguette, homemade chocolate chip cookies and a chocolate brownie served with water or juice.

Option B @ €60.00 per box also caters for two adults and two children as detailed above with the addition of Mini prawn cocktail, rocket salad & cocktail sauce and smoked bacon & gruyere cheese tart with two snipes of pink prosecco.

The Vegan Picnic box for two adults is €30 and features Mini vegetable samosa; Gazpacho soup; Roasted courgette & pepper tarts; Avocado, baby gem lettuce, beef tomato, sourdough bun; Rainbow salad wrap, hummus & rocket salad with Raspberry cheesecake and chocolate & hazelnut brownie.

Created by Executive Head Chef Phillip Gleeson and his team, Killashee’s Assiette of Miniature Desserts Box includes 8 mini cakes and desserts priced at €20 and the Cupcakes Box priced at 4 for €10 or 24 for €60, to be enjoyed at home. These are the Chef’s choice and the selection changes regularly.

Afternoon Tea at Killashee is a traditional favourite and the take-out Spring Afternoon Tea at €25 per person captures all its essence. Treat your taste buds with a delicious spread of dainty sandwiches, cakes and treats including Lemon Macaroon filled with lemon curd and white chocolate ganache; Chocolate Tart with cocoa jelly, milk chocolate Chantilly and chocolate shards; Warm Pear & Raspberry Crumble, speculoos tart, raspberry pastry cream and pear compote with ginger crumble; Blueberry & Cream éclair, blueberry confiture & cream filling, blueberries and spring flowers.

Savoury sandwiches and warm homemade scones with seasonal preserves are also served with this delicious afternoon tea. The selection includes Roast Sirloin of Beef with horseradish mayonnaise, rocket, tomato relish on sourdough; Killashee Egg & Bacon egg mayonnaise, bacon crumb on a brioche bap; Smoked Salmon Rillette with lime creme fraiche on treacle brown bread; Avocado, grilled pepper & courgette hummus served with wholemeal bread.
