Yvonne Connolly Judges The Inagural Killashee Irish Tatler Style Icon Competition

The Curragh, Sunday 22nd May

Broadcaster and former model Yvonne Connolly was the special guest judge on the expert panel who selected the Killashee Irish Tatler Style Icons at Tattersalls Irish Guineas Festival at The Curragh on Sunday, 22nd May.

Yvonne joined Ciara McElligott of Killashee Hotel and publishing entrepreneur Norah Casey as they searched for the ultimate iconic looks from the race day punters. The winners were announced in the Parade Ring immediately after the Joanna Lumley 70th Birthday Celebration Handicap race at 4.10pm

With race days regularly restricted to prizes for best-dressed ladies, this competition judged both women and men, choosing one winner in each category. Men were encouraged to rise to the occasion showing their stylish personality through their race day attire in the hopes of being named the Killashee Irish Tatler Man Style Icon.

Yvonne Connolly commented, “As a Kildare native I’ve been going to the races my whole life and love taking in all the fashions at The Guineas each year. I’m really looking forward to choosing the Killashee Irish Tatler Style Icons although I know it will be a tough job with a high level of competition. I’m delighted that there is a category for men too as they are regularly left standing in the cold. There are so many dapper men at the races, it’s a shame to ignore them!”

Ciara McElligott, Director of Tetrarch Capital, owners of Killashee Hotel said, “Killashee Hotel is delighted to sponsor the Style Icon competition. As loyal supporters of local horseracing we were eager to get involved. I was searching for men and women with their own personal style, which would reflect the iconic personality of the hotel. It’s not just the outfit, jewellery and accessories can make or break a look so I was looking for the full package.”

Norah Casey of Harmonia Publications commented, “Irish Tatler has been at the forefront of Irish style for over 125 years and we are thrilled to be back at the Curragh seeking out our Style Icon at the Guineas Festival. I was on the lookout for someone who represents everything that our magazine stands for – classic style with a contemporary fashion edge and something a little bit special. The Irish Tatler team scoured the crowds for the ensembles that really stood out and the man and woman who carried them off with a dash of daring.”

The winner of the Killashee Irish Tatler Style Icon (female) received a fantastic prize of an ultimate girls getaway. The winner with 9 of her best friends will enjoy a fun-filled weekend at Killashee Hotel including two nights bed & breakfast, a unique experience in the Hydrotherapy Suite in Killashee’s award winning spa, a champagne afternoon tea and dinner for the party of 10 on one evening. She will also receive a voucher for €2,000 from sponsors Cullen & Co Jewellers and a style feature in Irish Tatler magazine.

The Killashee Irish Tatler Man Style Icon won a weekend break for the winner plus 3 friends at Killashee Hotel including two nights bed & breakfast, dinner on one evening and tickets to the Irish Oaks at The Curragh on 16th July as well as a €1,000 voucher for Cullen & Co Jewellers.
